Certificate – Level One

A Certificate – Level One (Cert1) is a 1-year or less technical program comprised of at least 15 semester credit hours (SCH) and no more than 42 SCH designed for entry-level employment or upgrading skills and knowledge within an occupation. Certificate programs serve as building blocks and exit points for the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree programs.

Certificate – Level Two

A Certificate – Level Two (Cert2) is a 2-year or less technical program comprised of at least 30 semester credit hours (SCH) and no more than 51 SCH designed for entry-level employment or for upgrading skills and knowledge within an occupation. Certificate programs serve as building blocks and exit points for the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree programs.

What is a Certification?

A certification is a validation that an individual possesses certain skills, usually related to an occupation and measured against a set of accepted standards. An occupation may have multiple certifications, with different levels of expertise. An individual earns a certification by successfully passing a test or battery of tests.
