Edward C. Camarillo was elected to the TSC Board of Trustees in June 2024. Throughout his educational and professional careers, he has been dedicated to community service.

Mr. Camarillo was raised in Brownsville, Texas and graduated from James Pace High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Management from UTB/TSC, where he served as Student Government President and an AmeriCorps VISTA member. In 2005, he was elected as a commissioner to the City of Brownsville, a position he held for six years, during which he advocated for health, education, culture, and environmental initiatives.

Currently serving as Executive Director of Sunshine Haven, Mr. Camarillo is passionate about serving his community. He is a founding member of Nuestra Cultura Mariachi Association, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1553, and founder of Project READY (Resilient, Education, Active Involvement, Diversity and Youth). He is also cofounder of Camarillo Meals on Wheels and created the first Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Brownsville.
