Edgar E. Garcia was appointed to the TSC Board of Trustees in August 2024. A Brownsville native, he supports his community as a Physician Associate, providing strong leadership and a commitment to community service. He currently cares for patients at Advanced Urgent Care and has an extensive 10-year record of practice in a variety of healthcare settings, including emergency medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine, family medicine, and sports medicine.

As a high school student, Mr. Garcia earned the prestigious Gates Millennium Scholarship, which propelled him to earn a Bachelor of Science in Biology degree from the University of Texas at Brownsville/Texas Southmost College, graduating with honors. After serving as a high school biology teacher and varsity football and basketball coach, he earned a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies degree from the University of Texas Pan American, graduating at the top of his class and selected for induction into the PI Alpha National Honor Society, in recognition of academic achievement, leadership, research, service, and character. As part of his studies, he was selected to train in MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Gastroenterology medical oncology department.

Mr. Garcia has a strong passion for giving back to his community through efforts that support students, church, families, and his profession. He serves on a number of advisory committees at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance, and he is a member of the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants. Among the honors he has received are induction into the Brownsville Independent School District Hall of Fame and the MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Erin Scott Courageous Spirit Award.

Mr. Garcia and his wife are the proud parents of two children.
