Cost of Attendance

The Cost of Attendance (COA) is an estimate of what it costs the typical student to attend Texas Southmost College for a given period and includes the following components:

Tuition and Fees – The average academic-year cost for tuition and fees for a typical TSC full-time student. The actual costs that a student incurs will vary depending on the student’s program of study.

Books, Course Materials, Supplies, and Equipment – The average academic-year cost of books and supplies for a typical TSC full-time student. This does not include unusual costs for special groups of students (i.e., engineering or art majors).

Living Expenses (includes housing and food) – A reasonable estimate of the living expenses in Brownsville while attending TSC for an entire academic year. Actual costs may vary based on location and other choices.

Transportation – The estimated transportation costs for a typical full-time student who attends TSC for an entire academic year. Actual costs may vary depending on the mode of transportation and other choices.

Personal and Misc. – A reasonable allowance for other living expenses incurred during an academic year by a typical TSC full-time student.

Federal Student Loan Fees – The average federal student loan fee for the academic year, if awarded a student loan.

Professional Licensure, Certification, or a First Professional  Credential Costs – Costs are for a program requiring professional licensure, certification, or a first professional credential for employment in the field of study. Fees may vary by student and program of study.

Standardized costs of attendance are established each year and are applied to applicants in similar situations. This means that students with similar circumstances will receive the same allowances for each component included in the cost of attendance. Students may request a cost of attendance evaluation by providing current documentation of expenses with a written explanation of unusual circumstances to the TSC Financial Aid Office.
