Remote Testing for HESI: students will need to have an operating device and stable internet connection to be able to launch the HESI test.

Texas Southmost College requires all students interested in applying to the Nursing programs complete an admission assessment.

Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) = HESI Admission Assessment (A2) with Critical Thinking

Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) = HESI Admission Assessment (A2) with Critical Thinking

Associate’s Degree in Nursing (LVN to RN) = HESI LVN to ADN Entrance Exam

New to HESI Nursing Entrance Exam

Students must create an account.
DO NOT PAY ONLINE, ONLY CREATE AN ACCOUNT.

Please follow the steps below:

  1. Go to https://evolve.elsevier.com and click I’m a student.
  2. In the HESI Secured Exams section, click the Register for Results and Remediation link.
  3. Click Register for this Now to place this in your cart, then Redeem/Checkout from the cart screen.
  4. If you are a returning user, enter your Evolve username and password and click Login.  If you are new to Evolve, enter your name, email, desired password, and institution information (if applicable), and click Continue.
  5. Check the Box: Yes, I accept the Registered User Agreement
  6. Select Submit
  7. Check your email for the assigned username and provide it to the Testing Office.

REGISTERING FOR EXAM

You must register for the HESI exam using Market Place and have a HESI Username.

Scheduling must be done 48 hours before your desired test date.

LVN – HESI A2 with Critical Thinking
Cost: $54

ADN – HESI A2 with Critical Thinking
Cost: $54

LVN to RN – HESI LVN to ADN Entrance Exam
Cost: $54 fee

RETEST POLICY – HESI

  1. Attempt two times per year (January – December)
  2. Must be 30 days apart between attempts
  3. Student will complete HESI Remediation before registering for another session

LVN – HESI A2 with Critical Thinking

  1. 75% Reading Comprehension
  2. 75% Vocabulary
  3. 75% Grammar
  4. 75% Math
  5. 75% Anatomy & Physiology
  6. 75% Biology
  7. 600 Critical Thinking

LVN to RN – HESI LVN to ADN Entrance Exam
* 800 Minimum for each section of the exam

  1. Fundamentals
  2. Medical-Surgical
  3. Professional Issues
  4. Psychiatric/ Mental Illness

**The LVN to ADN entrance exam covers content on pediatrics and maternity, which will be reflected in the composite score but will not be individually ranked. The HESI entrance requirement must have been completed within 12 months of the application deadline.
