Welding - Certificate of Proficiency Level 1
Certificate of Proficiency Level 1
Statement of Purpose
The Structural Welding program prepares students with advanced hands-on training and technical skills for entry-level employment in welding, fabrication, construction, and manufacturing industries. Students receive in-depth instruction in welding theory, safety procedures, and practical welding applications using industry-standard processes and equipment.
Training focuses on Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) in multiple welding positions, including flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead techniques. Students also gain experience in Carbon Arc Gouging, Oxy-Acetylene Cutting and Beveling, Plasma Arc Cutting, and metal preparation processes used in industrial and structural welding environments.
The program is designed to develop workforce-ready skills aligned with industry standards and prepares students for careers in structural welding, fabrication, manufacturing, and industrial construction.
Upon successful completion of the program, students will earn:
- TSC Certification of Completion
- Occupational Skills Award (OSA)
- OSHA 10-Hour Certification
- NCCER Credential
Program Learning Outcomes
- Interpret and apply welding blueprints, including the understanding of symbols, measurements, and specifications, to guide welding projects.
- Develop basic principles for welding tasks using multiple processes.
- Apply welding techniques using the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW).
- Differentiate between layout and fabrication, including the ability to measure, mark, cut, and assemble materials according to design specifications and project requirements.
