AMERICAN MUSIC (MUSI 1310) explores the early eras of 1920’s jazz and 1950’s rock through more modern eras like the British Invasion, punk, rap and today’s music in the United States. The class emphasize stylistic developments, the contributors of the styles, and changes caused to society, the course will trace the influence of music on American culture. This class is a guide to understanding and enjoying American popular music from the late nineteenth century to the present.
