More about the TSC Food Pantry and Community Garden

An abandoned greenhouse that sat unused for years on campus has been given new life, new greenery and a fresh start. Its new name: the TSC Community Garden. It now serves as the primary source of food to fill our TSC Food Pantry.

From planning to funding to construction and planting, the project was a community effort. TSC Architecture students drew up blueprints; Construction students built out the greenhouse space and adjacent toolshed; Economic students researched the economic impacts and benefits of the garden; Biology students spread awareness by giving out pots, soil, and seeds; and Teaching students collected food to initially stock the pantry. That’s teamwork!

Special thanks to RGV Food Bank, Brownsville Wellness Coalition, and the Valley Baptist Legacy Foundation for their important role in establishing these locations.
