With a carnival-like atmosphere as the backdrop, hundreds of community members joined local leaders, students, faculty, staff and administrators in celebrating Texas Southmost College’s 90th Anniversary on April 16, 2016 at the main campus.

Scholarship donated to assist TSC students from Cameron Park

Standing at the podium in front of the Texas Southmost College Board of Trustees, Dr. Kathy Bussert-Webb talked about her experience teaching in the Cameron Park neighborhood of Brownsville, its low college graduation rates and negative perception in the media.

Before a crowd of almost two hundred at the Texas Southmost College ITEC Center, three female community leaders, including TSC President Dr. Lily F. Tercero, shared their inspirational stories of humble beginnings and the struggles they faced on the path to success during the March 8, 2016 Women’s International Day Conference.

Student Profile: Christian Abel Torres

christian-abel-torresWhen he was six years old, Christian Torres saw his Aunt Rosie cut her finger while slicing watermelon during a family event. The youngster calmly retrieved the First Aid kit and began to disinfect and dress his aunt’s wound with gauze, as she watched in amazement at how her 6-year-old nephew cared for her.

Texas Southmost College’s float debuted at the Charro Days Parade on Feb. 27, 2016 in Brownsville. Weeks earlier, the TSC students, faculty and staff decorated the float in a new college-wide tradition.

For this year’s Charro Days celebrations, the Texas Southmost College family began festivities with the inception of a new college-wide tradition, the decoration of the TSC float, that culminated with its debut on Feb. 27, 2016 at the Charro Days Parade in downtown Brownsville.
