TSC kicks off one-of-a-kind Forensic Macro Photography course

Texas Southmost College has a new workforce training course geared toward law enforcement agencies and professionals – Forensics Macro Photography, a course only available at TSC.

The course, led and taught by Thomas Kimbriel, a retired military, U.S. Border Patrol agent and FBI task force officer, focuses on using cutting-edge technology to identify human remains.

TSC vocational nursing alum earns award for her dedication as an educator

It was 1983 when Texas Southmost College gave alumna Luz Maria Silva an opportunity she thought was too far-fetched for a young girl from Durango, Mexico.

Now she is the recipient of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Mentor of the Year Award, where she works as a Clinical Associate Professor for the School of Nursing. Silva said it was her education at TSC that opened up the many doors of opportunities it took for her to get to this point in her career.

TSC student earns scholarship for accounting excellence

Enid Cardenas, a Texas Southmost College Accounting Technology student, is celebrating becoming a recipient of the Jose Roberto Hinojosa Scholarship for Accounting Excellence.

The 29-year-old, who earned a certificate in Accounting Technology from TSC in May, said never in her wildest dreams did she imagine receiving a scholarship of this caliber.

Neither pandemic nor family could hold back Medical Laboratory Technology graduate

COVID-19 has brought a lot of uncertainty, and for Texas Southmost College alumnus Fernando Gonzalez it threw a wrench into his graduation and career plans, but with patience and hope he is now where he is supposed to be.

The Los Fresnos native graduated with an associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology in May, which Gonzalez said only happened because of his instructors.
