This year’s Mr. Amigo is businessman, entrepreneur, philanthropist and star of reality show Shark Tank México, Arturo Elias Ayub.
During his career, Ayub served as the chief executive officer of Sociedad Comercial Cadena and as the CEO of the TELMEX Telcel Foundation. He is currently the CEO of Multimedia and Strategic Alliances of América Móvil, CEO of the TELMEX Telcel Foundation, director of Uno TV and president of the Instituto TELMEX del Deporte.
Ayub has promoted nationwide projects in Mexico in education, healthcare, justice, natural disaster relief, human development and sports. In 2001, he was appointed president of the Board of Trustees of the Pumas de la UNAM, a professional first division Mexican soccer team. Under his leadership, the Pumas won back-to-back LigaMX championships in 2004. In 2013, he joined Club León as a board member and shareholder, and won LigaMX titles in 2013 and 2014.
He is also currently the president of the Board of Trustees of Prodigy MSN and sits on the boards of several businesses such as Grupo CARSO, Grupo Financiero Inbursa, América Móvil and the Carlos Slim Health Institute.
Mr. Amigo will be honored during TSC’s Amigofest that includes a performance by youngsters from the TSC Raul J. Guerra Early Childhood Center and the award-winning Los Fresnos High School Mariachi Gran Halcón. Students representing TSC will present the guest of honor with special gifts. Community leaders from both sides of the border will attend.
Prior to the Mr. Amigo presentation, at 11 a.m., there will be a pre-program featuring the Los Fresnos High School Ballet Folklórico, the Incarnate Word Academy Charro and China Poblana, and Mariachi 7 Leguas.
The community is invited to the campus events and, in the spirit of Charro Days, visitors are encouraged to dress up in the festive clothing of the various states of Mexico. TSC will also have a float in the Charro Days parades.
