The Industrial Scaffolding Committee Basic Access program is a two-week, 80-hour Workforce Training program that will prepare students for the Industrial Scaffolding Committee (ISC) certification. The cost of the program is $695. Students that complete the Industrial Scaffolding Committee Basic Access program will learn the skills and earn the industry credential necessary to enter the workforce at an average salary of $15 per hour.
“Texas Southmost College works closely with Workforce Solutions (WFS) Cameron, local business and industry to identify the workforce needs in our region,” TSC President Jesús Roberto RodrÃguez, Ph.D., said. “Through this collaboration, a need for industrial scaffold builders was identified. TSC responded by developing a program to fill that need.”
TSC is partnered with WFS Cameron, Partner Industrial, Excel Modular Scaffolding, Brock Service Group and BrandSafway.
“The industrial scaffolding industry is a large industry,” Brian Wedemeyer, a representative of Partner Industrial said. “It supports petrochemical, chemical, power generation, paper and pulp, basically any large industrial facility is going to require industrial scaffolding. We worked with the college to get the equipment, we helped get the instructor, we provide the assessor, and we make sure the students have somewhere to land once they are done with training.”
