“We have an opportunity to come out and tell students a little about our work, and some of the basic requirements,” said Jaime Salazar, the patrol agent in charge of the Brownsville Border Patrol Station. “I think there’s nothing better than potential, prospective students, or future agents, to meet us and see a little beyond what they see in the news.”
Students were given in-depth details on the variety of positions, compensation, benefits and several other employment topics and opportunities related to a career with DHS.
“What really got my interest was how many agents they were hiring, 5,000 agents,” said Lucy Ornelas, a TSC criminal justice major. “It’s really amazing how this college gives everyone opportunities. We all appreciate the staff making the time and effort to bring border patrol agents out for us to meet.”
The Scorpion Lecture Series is a continuing series of presentations for TSC students, faculty, staff and the general public. The series covers a variety of topics from employment opportunities and trends to social issues affecting South Texas.
