“The Tree Lighting Ceremony was a great collaboration between TSC, our students and the community,” said TSC Director of Student Life Armando Ponce. “This event was a service learning opportunity for our students to put a program like this together. The students learned how to partner with the community, how to organize an event, get different organizations involved and have everyone come together to celebrate the holiday season.”
As part of this year’s ceremony, children from TSC’s Early Childhood Center sang “Feliz Navidad” and “Jingle Bells,” as the A.S. Putegnat fifth grade Honors Choir sang “Swinging Down Candy Cane Lane” and The Scorpionettes TSC student organization performed to “All I Want for Christmas is You.”
“It felt good to be a part of TSC’s Tree Lighting Ceremony tradition,” said TSC Scorpionette Noel Rangel. “It was a lot of fun. We loved the opportunity to spread some Christmas cheer through the dance team and we’re happy that the crowd enjoyed the ceremony.”
