Texas Southmost College Vice President of Instruction, Dr. Marti Flores, distributes toys to Reynaldo Longoria Elementary School students on Dec. 16, 2015, that were collected during TSC’s Third Annual Angel Tree Toy Drive.
“Texas Southmost College is proud to be a part of the Angel Tree Toy Drive and we’re happy that we had the opportunity to bring some holiday cheer to the children in our community,†said Dr. Marti Flores, TSC Vice President of Instruction. “We were just as excited distributing the toys as the children were in receiving them. It’s truly heart-warming to know that you were able to bring a smile to a child’s face, especially during the holidays.â€
Pre-kindergarten through first grade students aged four to six years old at Longoria Elementary were the recipients of the toys.
The children gathered in the school’s cafeteria and shouted with joy when the curtain to a small stage, located at the opposite end of the room, was opened to reveal the toys.
The students filed up to the stage in groups and every child had the opportunity to select a toy as a gift for the holidays.
TSC exceeded this year’s Angel Tree Toy Drive goal by 25 percent. The four-week long toy drive was led by the College’s Office of Student Life and donations were made by students, faculty and staff.
