By Edward Severn<\/em><\/p>\n BROWNSVILLE \u2014 The Texas Southmost College Women\u2019s Soccer is working hard to stay fit for the Fall season. The Scorpions took on Classic Elite, a club team, in a friendly Thursday night at the Scorpion Soccer Field.<\/p>\n TSC lost 3-1, but the main focus is to prepare returning players for next season. The Scorpions had strong moments throughout the match and took a lead in the first half.<\/p>\n Midfielder Camila Gil scored from a free kick that was well outside the box. Forward Camila Minez won the foul to set up the set-piece opportunity.<\/p>\n Classic Elite would respond with two goals. The Scorpions had a chance to tie the match before the half, but they could not convert from close range.<\/p>\n Scorpions head soccer coach Mario Zamora said it was a good scrimmage for his team. He added that they were working players in different positions, players had injuries and fitness was key.<\/p>\n \u201cWe need to get ready for the fall,\u201d Zamora said. \u201cWe are going to continue to work \u2026 overall good performance. We are looking forward to the next game.\u201d<\/p>\n The Scorpions had another chance to level the match in the 55th minute from a set piece. Three Scorpions lost their markers at the back post, but could not reach the cross. It would have been hard for the opposing keeper to cover her post.<\/p>\n Classic Elite added a third from a free kick to make it 3-1.<\/p>\n Scorpions goalkeeper Cameron Mercado racked up a few saves that helped keep TSC in the match throughout the 90 minutes.<\/p>\n TSC Women\u2019s soccer returns to action Sunday, April 6th, against a club from San Antonio.
