February 20, 2025, McAllen – Last night, the American Advertising Awards Rio Grande Valley chapter turned McAllen into the ultimate creative battlefield, channeling the cutthroat energy of Don Draper’s Mad Men with their annual “Maddy Awards.” It was a night of glamour, innovation, and fierce competition— and Texas Southmost College stood out, claiming three prestigious awards!
First up, a massive congratulations to Esteban Del Angel, who earned not one, but two awards for his captivating photos from the 2024 TSC Mariachi Festival. His work earned him both a Gold and Silver award, showcasing his remarkable eye for capturing the essence of the festival in all its vibrant glory.
“I am truly grateful to TSC for the opportunity to showcase my work and be recognized for my passion,” said Del Angel. “Photography and videography have been a part of my life for many years, but being at TSC has provided me with a platform to grow, create, and be acknowledged for my craft. I deeply appreciate the support and encouragement from this incredible institution.”
Next, the TSC marketing team secured a Bronze award for the “Think TSC Campaign,” a multi-platform marvel that captured the spirit of the college across various mediums. Kudos to Sonia Garza, graphic specialist, for her incredible work that made this campaign stand out in the highly competitive regional/national category.
But the night didn’t stop there. The team was also recognized with a Bronze award for the TSC Scorpion Soccer Social Campaign, which was a genuine team effort. This all-hands-on-deck campaign came to life thanks to the collective work of Esteban Del Angel (photography), Sonia Garza (graphic design), Liz Valenzuela (social media), and Anthony Hudgins, James Walker, and Melissa Gutierrez (production assistants).
These wins are a testament to the creativity, dedication, and collaboration that define the TSC marketing team and under the leadership of TSC Executive Director of Marketing Ricardo Vasquez and Creative Services Manager Jonathan Straub, the team continues raising the advertising bar.
“I am incredibly proud of this team for their hard work and creativity,” said Straub. “These awards are further evidence of their talent and dedication, and I am proud to work alongside them.”
“I was fortunate to step into a leadership role with such a talented, dedicated, and innovative marketing team,” said Vasquez. “When taking on a new leadership position, there are always uncertainties, but at TSC, I quickly discovered a team that is exceptionally skilled and driven to achieve excellence.”
