Brown Convention Center in Houston.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is what Texas Southmost College has been working to achieve since we re-opened our doors and became independently operational in fall 2013,&#8221; said Dr. Lily F. Tercero, TSC president. &#8220;This is an outstanding achievement and it&#8217;s a testament to the hard work of our College&#8217;s Board of Trustees, students, faculty, and staff.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The SACSCOC is the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the 11 Southern states and Latin America.<\/p>\n<p>The SACSCOC On-site Visiting Committee visited TSC in August to complete its review of the institution. The Committee&#8217;s draft report affirmed that TSC had achieved a very high level of compliance with all accreditation requirements.<\/p>\n<p>During the on-site visit, sixteen (16) core requirements, fifty-five (55) comprehensive standards and a number of federal requirements were reviewed for compliance. The Committee&#8217;s Final Report cited only one comprehensive standard that required further documentation. TSC&#8217;s response to the Committee&#8217;s Final Report and approval for membership by the SACSCOC Board confirms the successful completion of the accreditation process for TSC.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About Texas Southmost College<\/strong><br \/>Originally established in 1926, Texas Southmost College offers the first two years toward a bachelor&#8217;s degree, along with career and technical education, college preparatory studies to prepare students for college-level work, workforce training, and continuing education. Recently selected as a Bright Spot by the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics, TSC offers 53 programs of study leading to an associate degree or certificate.
