Submitting Your Nomination

Please submit your nomination by using the quick and easy online form.

If you encounter difficulties in submitting the online nomination form, please refer to the FAQ at the bottom under What if I can’t submit my nomination online?

Before you submit your nomination, please make sure you have answered all the questions on the nomination form completely, and that you have included your work phone number, division, department, and email address. Please note that incomplete or anonymous nominations will not be accepted.

Tips for Writing a Nomination

  • Be specific in describing the contributions of the individual you are nominating.  Point to real improvements and tangible impact, using multiple examples.
  • Make sure you are responding to the questions posed on the nomination form, not just providing a general description of work done by your candidate.
  • Nominations do not have to belong to be effective, but please provide enough background so that the impact of your nominee’s contributions is clear.
  • Take care to explain any technical terms and “insider jargon” in everyday language.  It is important to explain any initiatives or projects mentioned so that the committee understands the nominee’s accomplishments in full.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible to receive the Going the Extra Mile with a Smile recognition?
Any full-time or part-time employee who has exhibited exemplary customer service has gone beyond the expected to provide noteworthy service to the College and who has been employed for at least six (6) months with the College at the time of the nomination is eligible to receive recognition.

Are any individuals not eligible to receive the Going the Extra Mile with a Smile recognition?
Any full-time or part-time employee who has been employed at the College for less than six (6) months, student workers, and work studies are ineligible to receive the Going the Extra Mile with a Smile recognition.  Members of the Selection Committee are also ineligible.

Who can submit a nomination?
Any full-time or part-time employee of the College may submit a nomination form.

Can I nominate myself or a team?
You may not nominate yourself or a team.

Can more than one person nominate the same individual?
Yes, more than one person can nominate the same individual.

May I nominate the same individual more than once?
The Going the Extra Mile with a Smile recognition program welcomes re-submissions from previous years, however, if you are re-submitting a nomination, please add any new and relevant accomplishments and ensure that existing information is current. You may not nominate the same individual more than once in a given nomination period.

Can my colleagues submit a letter of support for my candidate?
The Selection Committee does not accept letters of support or additional statements above and beyond the information received as part of the nomination form; however, an employee may be nominated more than once by different full-time or part-time employees.

When can I submit a nomination?
The nomination deadline is as follows:

  • First Monday in May – recognized during Fall Convocation
    (the deadline may be extended if necessary)
