The field of Agriculture is very diverse and comprises a variety of occupations in six major sectors: agriculture business, agriculture mechanics, animal science, environmental services, food science, and natural resources. There are over eighty different occupations listed with specific Standard Occupational Classification codes. In Texas, the 2019 total employment in twenty-eight agricultural occupations was more than 80,000 (US Bureau of Labor Statistics).
Employment in most of these occupations is expected to grow as demand continues to rise. For example, in Texas overall employment of food scientists and technologists is projected to grow 14.1% between 2016 and 2026 (Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics and Texas Labor Market Information).
