Accounting Technology

A degree in Accounting Technology will prepare students for entry-level positions in accounting. It also provides hands-on instruction in all aspects in general ledger accounting for a service and merchandise business, computerized accounting, payroll taxation, and ethics.

Welcome to the Texas Southmost College Accounting Technology Program. The Accounting Technology program offers a Certificate of Proficiency Level-One and an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree. Students who complete the Accounting Technology program have the option to seek employment or to continue their education by pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science degree program.

Cooperative Education (Co-Op) is a component of the Accounting Technology Program. Co-Op offers the student the opportunity to earn college credit for achievement of learning activities, which are accomplished through skills learned in the classroom and applied at the workplace. This class is taken the last semester of the program. Co-op is a team effort involving the supervisor, the student, and the faculty. Note: Some supervisors do background checks.
